Today Georgia Grace made her debut at Trinity Wall Street, where Dave and I are members, and where we got married just over four years ago. She was fascinated by the sounds and sights, and was well-behaved (for the most part, anyway!). I got a little emotional when we walked up for communion as a family… a lot has changed since Dave and I said our ‘I dos’!

Gigi’s New Babysitter

Grandpa generously offered to watch Georgia Grace so we could have a night out with our friends Eva and Alan. We assured him she was an excellent sleeper and would be down for a good eleven or twelve hours… The only problem was Gigi had other plans: to party with grandpa and watch college football until 1030pm. Although he had a flight at 6:00am the next day, he didn’t seem to mind at all. 🙂

The Best Birthday Present Ever

Yesterday I received the best birthday present of my life: I learned my daughter does not have scoliosis. I have worried about that day as long as I can remember. Growing up, I learned that scoliosis was a very genetic disorder, and much more likely to pass along to girls. It was my first thought the day we realized we were having a girl, though I’ve done my best to keep calm knowing it can sometimes skip a generation (which, thank God, is what happened with my mom). Today, I had a very reputable pediatric orthopedic surgeon (Dr. Doyle at Hospital for Special Surgery) tell me with the utmost certainly that, at this point Georgia Grace does NOT have scoliosis. When she said the words, I cried tears of the deepest gratitude I have ever known. A birthday present 35 years in the making, I have never wanted anything as much as I wanted those words.

This Is 35

Happy Birthday to me! I am so grateful for my little family of three.

Thanks to my husband, I have a life I love, a happy marriage, and a healthy baby girl. (Her health is literally thanks to Dave — the orthopedist said the most likely reason she was not born with scoliosis is because Dave’s genes trumped mine in that department. Thank God.)
