Savannah!

The day after Christmas, Grampy, Yaya, Gigi, and Mama headed down south to visit Georgia Grace’s Aunt Leigh Anne, Uncle Rob, and sweet cousin, Brody. Pretty much immediately upon arrival, we were the worst guests a host could ask for: Gigi threw up all over Leigh Anne’s car (and Brody’s car seat!) en route on the way to their brand new house. We walked in the door carrying our vomit-covered baby, and went right to the bathtub. We were a mess, and it didn’t get much better: at some point, we all got sick with some sort of virus: me, Dave, and G. Fortunately, we didn’t infect anyone else!

Nevertheless, we ended up having a very happy Christmas celebration. It was so much fun watching the two cousins play together and open presents.

Christmas 2018

Our little girl didn’t know what to think when she entered the living room on Christmas morning! One thing was clear: Santa certainly went overboard. Gigi had more presents to open and toys to explore than she had time or attention span. Regardless, it was a happy morning. We opened presents, had breakfast together, and then headed to Soho House for (a very indulgent) Christmas dinner.

Balthazar

Happily, it’s become something of a Christmas Eve tradition. The ambiance, the service, the buzz, the crusty bread, the salty butter, the wine, the wall calendar announcing that it’s “DEC 24”, and the fact that they seem so happy to see my baby girl… well, I guess it all just keeps us coming back. The meal was a success and Gigi tried her first ice cream ever. See you next year, Balthazar!

Christmas Eve Eve

This year, we spent my favorite holiday, Christmas Eve Eve, in Connecticut! We celebrated with Gigi’s godparents, Uncle Joey and Aunt Amey, her cousin, Ben, and her Grampy. I can’t begin to describe the sweetness of the dynamic between Ben and Gigi. These two LOVE each other. A happy Christmas was had by all, and as always, the day seemed to pass far too quickly, and we were on the train heading back to New York before we knew it.

First, the subway, then the train…

…then, cousin Ben’s house!

The trip back home was a sweet one. Gigi, in her PJs, fell asleep in the car on the way to the train station. At the New Haven train station, Manhattanites poured off the train with presents and treats to bring home to their families.

Christmas in Mississippi

Gigi and I headed south for our first-ever girls’ trip! We had such a blast with Grandmother and Great Ganny. We celebrated Christmas the whole time: every day, we went on walks and drove the golf cart around the neighborhood so G could see the Christmas decorations and “look for Santa.” She even learned a fun new trick, and can now tell you what Santa says (“Ho ho ho!”)! She also picked up on what to call my mom, saying, not Grandmother, but, “MOM!” anytime she wanted her. So funny. I guess I don’t realize how often or loudly I call for my “MOM!” when we are together! ❤️

PS – her obsession with inflight safety protocol and procedure is beginning to alarm me.
