Six-Month Photo Session

Our friend Sean came back to capture the moment in time that is six months into life as a family of three.

Six-month Appointment

She’s 27 inches, 16.5 pounds, and 100% awesome! We love this little girl so much. She babbles like crazy (“Aaaabbbbwah!” and “Bop.”), and is a big fan of oatmeal, avocado, and books. She’s starting to sit up on her own, but topples from time to time. She freely communicates frustration by grunting to let us know she’d prefer to sit than be held, stand than sit, be awake than sleep, read, etc.

Georgia Grace did SO WELL at her six-month appointment! She and mama maintained constant eye contact and she laughed along with me as I made silly faces, with three brief pauses for three lightning-fast injections (thanks, Nurse Sharon!). Our girl is tough-as-nails — don’t let that charming smile fool you.

Gigi totally earned her duck princess, who was appropriately accessorized with magic wand and matching tiara.

PS: Shout out to Dr. Wasserman who continues to kick ass on all fronts. She speaks to us as a fellow parent, and we love it. Upon hearing of my traveling/breastfeeding/working mom beef du jour with Delta, she encouraged me to write the CEO a letter… and I did. 😉

Story Time

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:30am, Little Miss Georgia Grace meets her friends Willie, Tillie, Lillie, and Elle for story time at the library. This week, I got to join in the fun! It was as precious as you would imagine. All the babies, nannies, and mamas follow the teacher along as they sing songs and read books.

PS – check out the line. I took this photo at 11:15. By 11:30, the line had wrapped around the block and down the street (the class is capped at 50 people). Amazing, right? New Yorkers are always competing for something. I guess that’s true for little New Yorkers, too.

Team Gigi

The day of our wedding, right in the middle of the marriage ceremony, Father Mark invited our families and bridal party to join us at the altar to place their hands on us as a symbol for the love and support they will give us and our family from that point forward. Four-going-on-five years later, that support — and the support of everyone in attendance — is unyielding.

Thanks to our friend, Dave, I had an opportunity to meet several NBA execs at the League’s All-Star Weekend in New Orleans. Without Dave’s help, I wouldn’t have the chance to have a meaningful introduction and 1:1 time with these folks.

Thanks to a job and a boss that rewards and recognizes hard work and relationships, I was given the green light to take a work trip to New Orleans. Since it was last-minute, flights were sparse and hotels were completely booked. So, I flew into Gulfport, and drove my mom’s car to New Orleans. Without my mom’s help, I wouldn’t have gotten there.

Thanks to our urban family members Eva and Alan, I had a (beautiful!) room at the Hilton Riverside. Without their help, I wouldn’t have had a place to stay.

Yesterday, I spent the day with my mom, my grandmother, and my uncle (who now insists on the title “Great Uncle Mike,” thanks to his Great Niece, Gigi). My mom left work early to drive me to the airport. My uncle chauffeured Ganny and me all over the place and treated us to a fun lunch and then took us to say hi to Mom at work. And Ganny, being the tough little lady she is, put on an award-winning smile, powered through some serious back pain, and spent the day on the town with us.

Without Georgia Grace’s wonderful, wonderful nanny, Chandra, none of this would have been possible. She was supposed to have Presidents Day off, but I asked her to come spend the day with her BFF so I could take my work trip. She even sent me pictures while I was away.

And of course, I couldn’t do any of this without my husband. I have his support in everything I do… and he is so good to keep me in the loop via FaceTime while I’m on the road!! I am so grateful.

Oh, and to top it all off, I ran into Gigi’s Aunt Micah at the airport. We caught up over wat too much wine and way too many M&Ms. It was the best start to my trip I could’ve imagined!

I am so grateful for the support of the people we love. Team Gigi is all the stronger and better because of you!!
