“Hey Rooster”

For some reason she wakes up some mornings and just yells “Hey chicken” or “hey rooster.” I’m not sure where it came from

Pablo “Micasso”

Today, we took Gigi to the Pablo Picasso museum in Barcelona. We arrived 45 minutes before close, and the woman at the desk cautioned us that they’d be closing soon and that most people need an hour to get through the entire museum. Clearly, she does not have children. We told her 45 minutes would leave us time to spare. With that said, Gigi did great! She seemed to like the art and learned a lot about Picasso (or “Micasso” as she says) in between breaks to play the drums on benches and walls.

I included photos of my two favorite pieces in the collection. In the second one below, you can see he scratched through some of the Roman numerals. It gave me comfort to see that even geniuses make mistakes. I’m going to try to remember that.

After the museum, we went back to being a three-year old: sitting on cows and hugging ice cream cones.

“Joanie”

Joan is one of the sweet girls who Gigi had the privilege of attending class with at Reade Street Prep this past fall. Weekly, if not daily, Gigi would come home to us telling stories about “Joanie.” It didn’t take us long to realize how much Georgia Grace truly admired and looked up to Joan. And, lucky for us, there was really no better first role model on the planet. About one year older than G, Joanie is remarkably mature for her age. She is sweet, kind, and independent; importantly, she uses her voice. The girls will attend different schools this fall but I am hopeful they’ll continue to spend time together on the occasional play date. Regardless, this special little girl will always hold a sweet place in our hearts. ❤️
