Champagne Problems

The ottoman was too far for my short legs, so I really had to stretch out to rest my feet. Rough life.

I flew Korean Air for the first time today (from Hong Kong to South Korea). If I ever have another chance to do so, I will. The service was the best I’ve ever received. The flight attendants were sweet-as-pie, and I genuinely wish I could’ve had more time with them. They personally introduced themselves to each of us by name, and my new best friend, Ms. Park, gave me extra Gochujang (Korean hot pepper paste) to bring home because I liked it so much. Haha.

One More Sunrise…

Hong Kong, I’m going to miss you. I’ve woken up to this gorgeous view every day, and have met some of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in my entire life. I hope it doesn’t sound cheesy, but I’m definitely bringing some new views back with me — this place really has, in just a short amount of time, changed me for the better. The people are kind, warm, genuine, patient, and happy. On my way out the door today, I had THREE people from the Island Shangri-La walk with me to the car. They all stood and waited for me to get in the car (one even handed me my seat belt once I sat down), and then waved as my car drove away. I’m going to try to slow down when I get home. I want to be able to devote the same amount of energy to every exchange in my life – big or small – as my new friends in Hong Kong. There’s something so special about having someone’s undivided attention, even if it is only long enough for them to wave as your car drives away. I’m also leaving this place feeling inspired. The culture is very advanced from a gender-equality standpoint; society supports women as mothers as to enable those mothers to have careers and be contributing members of society. I’m going to make sure that, when I go back to work on Monday, I’m supporting others – men and women, parents or not – and raising my hand to ask for support when I need it.

I can’t wait to bring my family back here. I’m excited to further explore the Asian culture… maybe just not for a couple more months. I’m even more excited to wake up at 121 Reade Street on Saturday morning and go on a walk to grab coffee with my sweet baby girl and rock-star husband.
