We had a great day today. It was absolutely beautiful out — we met some friends from Gigi’s new school for a park play date, had a family lunch at Sarabeth’s (where we saw Mini — our friend who coordinated our rehearsal dinner nearly nine years ago!), and then went to Gigi’s first indoor birthday party in over a year. It was small and safe and the kids partied like never before.

I’m vaccinated!

A year ago, we were scared and uncertain and had every right to be. We were absolutely blindsided by COVID-19. We found ourselves neck-deep in a global pandemic with insufficient resources, leadership, and information, and the idea of a vaccine felt like an indulgent if not childish fantasy. Today, April 13, 2021, I received my second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. I have lived through a pandemic. It was never intended to be on my bucket list, but here we are, and it is now one of my proudest and most significant life accomplishments. Today I am remembering and praying for all the lost lives and families who have suffered the lost of their loved ones. It has been hell on earth and I am so lucky to be alive. Hey, 2021 — let’s GOOOOOO! We have some lost time to make up for!
