“Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!”

Totally unsolicited, right in the middle of baking cookies, girlfriend just had to deliver a message to anyone who would listen.

3:27am

Gigi arrives at my bedside, and climbs in. After some serious restlessness I tell her we’re going back to her room. She gets in bed, settles, and starts laughing hysterically.

Gigi, laughing: I just had a silly thought.

Me: Yeah? What was it?

Gigi: A cheetah climbing a rope.

Me, entertained as one can be at this hour: haha, go to sleep.

Gigi starts laughing again.

Me: What is so funny?

Gigi: The name “Snowball.”

Touché, Gigi. Touché.

Brave and Afraid

These are topics we openly discuss in our family. We remind Gigi she is brave on a daily basis — she says so in her affirmations! — and we also talk about the fact that fear and bravery go hand in hand. When she has an opportunity to step up to the plate, she takes a deep breath and goes for it. I’m so proud of my girl. She’s getting a COVID test today and, although she definitely doesn’t want to, she’s choosing to be brave and is proud of doing her part in keeping other people safe.

We love you so much, sweet girl, and are so very proud of you!
